The Vyaktis behind Vyaktitva
He went to XLRI from where he passed out in ’90, then was revived somewhat by his involvement in key OD assignments at SRF and in creating computer based soft skills training at NIIT, where he was awarded the Excellence Award for Creative Instructional Design. But he realized that to perform at his peak potential, he needed a free hand to set his own agendas.
So, he founded his calling – the Performance Support Practice of Vyaktitva, where as the Director he brings to the team creative conceptualization ability and a facility for building ownership among the people for Vyaktitva’s interventions. His passion is to work in the area of enhancing performance through cultural, structural, developmental and systemic interventions with people.
Apart from Vyaktitva his dream is to mainstream social action by building social responsibility into every citizen and he pursues this vision with other founder members of a non-profit organization called Pravah, which sensitizes young people to social issues.
A product of XLRI 1990 vintage, Gagan joined NIIT right after campus and believe it or not, in these job hopping times, thrived there for 14 long years. Though to be honest he did his share of job hopping within NIIT – getting to experience not only all facets of HR but also taking on business responsibilities. Unlike so many of us who get stuck into our comfort zones, he moved his cheese and opted for a regional business head role for NIIT Planetworkz focusing on providing the BPO industry with recruitment and training solutions. As an associate with Vyaktitva, this experience enables him to bring to any assignment a penchant for making HR more business and bottom line oriented. Also, having focused on processes, Gagan doesn’t believe in one-time interventions but rather in enshrining learnings for long-term impact.

Ashraf has the rare distinction of straddling two sectors-the corporate and the non-profit. After finishing her PGDPM & IR from XLRI in 1990,she rose quickly on the corporate ladder to head HR at Escorts Financial services by September 1994,after a small stint at SRF Ltd.Then suddenly she realized her ladder was on the wrong wall!
She had passionately begun to believe that people in positions of power and privilege like she were not doing enough for the common spaces in society. She decided to quit from the corporate sector and founded a non –profit organization called Pravah with a few like-minded friends. Over the last decade Pravah has grown into a twenty strong, vibrant organization building capabilities in young people to intervene positively to change the world together.
